My new slp clutch is slipping. It has about 4000 miles on it. I bought the slp clutch and pressure plate, then had the flywheel turned. A shop did all the work. I know the slp clutch isnt much better then stock, but i dont have a lot of major mods, i dont see why it is slipping already.

So is there a plroblem with the clutch or the istallation? Or was i just beating on it to much?

Can i replace the clutch plate with something better, and keep the pressure plate?

 

What kind of mods do you have?

I use a SLP PP with a mcleod single performance disc and I am putting down 423rwhp 432 rwtq.

 

My relevent mods are:

Cold air intake, mac headers, hooker catback, high flow cat (soon to be offroad pipe), 1.6 roller rockers

with my mods now the clutch is just barely strong enough. I also have a pretty crappy set of tires on the rear, i think when i get a new set of tires, and start hooking up better, the clutch is going to give.

Also i would like to start spraying, so there is no way my current set up will hold.

So i need a setup that will work for the mods above, plus a pair of drag radials and anywhere from a 100 to 150 shot

if i swap in a mcleod disk, will i have to resurface the PP and flywheel agian? its only been about 4000-5000 miles

 

I did not resurface mine when I swapped to the mcleod single disc. It had barely been 3000 miles.
