neutral safety switch

where is it located?

car suddenly won't start....no clicks, turns, nothing.

reacts just like it does when you don't have the clutch in.

thinking maybe the switch is bad.

Re: neutral safety switch

If you can push start the car, or if you run a wire straight from the starter to the battery when the key is in the "ON" position and the car starts. I'd say it's your clutch safety switch. It’s not quite located on the clutch petal but is mounted on a bracket up under your dash inline with your clutch petal.

Just look for a black push button switch that is inline with the clutch petal. The button itself is 1 ¼ inches long by 3/8 high. The whole switch unit has an over all length of 2 ¼ inches and depth of 2 ¼ when the switch is not depressed. And has a two prong connection.

Re: neutral safety switch

There are 2.

the top most one is the kill switch, the lower one is the switch to disengage cruise when you hit the clutch.

Re: neutral safety switch

all you have to do is unplug the switch and run a jumper wire between the terminals in the plug . put the car in nuetral so you dont need clutch if it starts problem solved. krazykamaro's way will work too but the jumper wire is a little safer since you dont need to get under the car.
