Need trans help bad(T56)

Well, my first time out to the track was a bad one.

Lost second gear, it will go into second just fine, with no noises or anything, just free wheels in gear though. All other gears are fine.

I was going from first to second in the staging lanes smoking the tires. Made kind of a bad noise, and i got a very bad clutch burning smell.(lots of smoke from under car also.) blueish white

Could it be a 1-2 fork, since everything else is still fine?

On a better note, i ran a 14.9 shifting from 1st to third.

OUCH!.. NEver heard of that one before.. Do you have a aftermarket shifter? Check to make sure your stop's didn't move out on ya.. have to see some pic's if you get that one apart.. Should be interesting.. What were you doing smoking tires in the staging lanes? Not very safe IMHO

Does it make a weird "whirring" noise. Can't really describe the noise other than that - but I did the same thing a few years back . I didn't have any smoke or nothing like that though. Just hit a bump as I was banging through the gears while testing acceleration against another car, and crunch . Was covered under my extended warranty thankfully. You're second gear is toast. The teeth that the synchros grab onto are no longer there, they've checked out.. Hasta la bye bye.

I can even take a pic of what I bet that gear looks like now. I think I still have it in my garage as a "trophy" of sorts.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news .

Just an FYI for other new racers out there - don't complete a pass when something is obviously wrong with the car. Three main reasons. Your time won't mean anything if you are simply testing. Depending on what is wrong, you run the risk of oiling down the track and screwing things up for everyone else and possibly getting booted from the track. And a biggie is that you may cause further damage. If you are a pro and racing for championship or big money than maybe it makes sense - your competitior make have an even bigger problem and you may still win. But otherwise, it's foolish.

As far as your tranny goes, you have to get it apart anyway, so why speculate?

Right after it happened, i parked the car, let it cool off, and checked to be sure i was not leaking any fluids.

I then drove it down the road outside the track, and everything else functioned as normal.

Thanks though
