Need some th350 help.....again

Frank hope you know what is going on here, I have no ideas

Made a pass....seemed like the trans was slipping. came back checked everything out, went to go try again....

Put it in reverse and some clunk/grinding......didn't know what it was. Tried in forward gears and it was fine for about 150 ft. The it just free wheeled. I had nothing, no R, 1,2 or 3...nothing. Cut it of looked under it etc checked linkage......Thought maybe I was crazy so started and tried again...worked fine with no problem. So I pull it on the trailer....about halfway up a hard jerk like something broke......but it still pulled.

Any ideas at all? I plan to get it out and apart in the morning.

Damn converter isn't going to work either, way too tight

Usually a grinding points to a grenaded planetary.

I've got a really nice manual valvebody TH350 sitting in the shop that I'll let go for $750. It's the one out of our 10.8 second '70 Camaro.

Is it a forward or reverse pattern? I want a forward, that how my shifter is set up for.

I will let you know on that, I need a converter too. But I'm going to pull it out now and get it apart, see whats up and try to make it to the EFA shootout. If you go to it frank I might try and get the 350 from you while I am there. Either way I should be going, just with another car....

It's a standard pattern with a Turbo Action valve body.

Cool, thats the same one I have.

Now I got this thing out and torn down......does not smell too burned up.
The low/reverse ( i guess clutches) all the way in the rear....they are smoked.....all black looking.

The front planet inside the sun shell looks like it was riding on the sunshell. But it has the thrust bearing in it. But, you know the sun gear has the 2 snap rings like wire type....well the front one was off just laying in there all stretched out. I'm thinking it was pushing it back and the shell was slipping around where the snap ring goes....

Does this sound reasonable? And why the hell would my low/rev. be burned up? When I first installed this trans I used the cheetah vb but forgot something (the mod. valve) so I'm thinking it smoked em then even thogh I didn't even move it 200 ft. but it was really jerking feeling.

You going to make it to the shootout?

This thing looked amazingly well for all it's been through. The forward frictions were flaking a little. I've got the parts ordered to put it back together. should be done by Thursday.
