Need Mcleod Clutch install help pls!
I am having a problem with my street twin.
The clutch fork is hitting both the pressure plate and the studs holding on the plate. I had read that someone had a problem with the studs being too long, but the studs are lower than flush with my pressure plate.
I just tore down the car again, and checked with the trans about 1/2 inch apart, to make sure the clutch fork was inserted in the TO bearing. IT was.
My only Idea now is that maybe the clutch was just not disengaging properly and I adjusted the pedal so far that the fork is traveling too far?
The only other solution I see is to cut the pivot T that holds the fork onto the tranny a bit shorter so that the angle of the fork to the TO is greater, but I have never heard of anyone doing this.
Any other ideas?
Thanks, I have been fooling with this for too long now.

I thought about that too...
I may have found the problem. I actually assembled the setup back in march. I had some problems so could not start the car. Then I had to go to China for a few months.
Well, upon further dissasembly, looks like some moisture got in, and the whole assembly was stuck together.
I had to pry the disks off the pressure plates with a screwdriver.
I am thinking that I could not put the car in gear since the whole assembly was spinning, and that I just kept adjusting the clutch until I adjusted it so far that the fork was contacting the pp. I hope at least.
I did grind a bit off the fork last night under the car. I am thinking I will do a bit more, I wonder how much this will weaken the fork?

Well, I have fixed the clutch it is working great! Man the clutch sure is grabby!
This has been a long saga...started in March, I wanted to get the car ready for a track day at cmp. Got the clutch and put it in. After having a lot of trouble getting the tranny (no one to help me and no tranny jack) I got everything together. Went to start the car and the motor would not turn over. Then I had to go to china for 2 months.
Last week got my transmission jack and started working on the car again...Tore the car apart and found that I had picked up the wrong bolt for one of the transmission bolts. It was about 1/2 longer than the others. The bolt went through the flywheel housing and was hitting on the ridges on the pressure plate, locking up the motor.
Well I was glad to have found the problem. Put it all back together and got the clutch fork problem. Push in the clutch, horrible noise.
Like I said above, all of the parts were stuck together today, from sitting for a few months in the moist air. Since I had never put the car in gear, they hadn't broken free. I then adjusted the clutch so far that when I pushed in the clutch, the fork was hitting the pp.
I cleaned everything and put it back together. Put the clutch adjustment to about where it had come from Mcleod, and voila, it's working.
What a nightmare, I had the tranny out 3 times, and I think I spent a total of about 40 hours !

Don't get it HOT for a few hundred miles or it will rattle your teeth when backing up forever after. It will also chatter like hell when leaving a stop light at a normal pace, but will hold like a Eagle holding it's prey.
