So i decided since im gettin new tires tomorrow id spin the old ones for fun tonight. Well after cooking the rubber i took off stop to back up and examine my signature and the vehicle wont go into reverse. I spelled clutch horribly and the clutch pedal is extremely light, i have had a problem with gears grinding every now and then here lately the clutch in the vehicle is a z06 clutch and the slave cylinder was replaced when the tranny was rebuilt and the new clutch installed at the same time. I checked the clutch fluid level and its full but looks horrible. Its black!! Also I cant shift into reverse at all and the clutch is definitely not fully disengaging, I smell clutch at ever stop and have a hell of a time getting it into first gear and shifting as well, any help is greatly appreciated. HELP!?!?!

 

Okay i just had a buddy help me out we lifted the rear put the car in 1st with the clutch in and the clutch is obviously not disengaging now where do i go can anyone help?

 

Sounds like something in the hydraulics. Did you get all of the air out when you replaced the slave cylinder?

 

the dealership did the clutch,slave,master cylinder, and tranny all at the same time so i can only assume they did it correctly, this was a gm dealer but who knows, shifting the tranny with the car off it seems fine so i definitely believe its in the hydraulics but why and how?

Tried bleeding the slave and it didnt help....pulled the tranny down and apparently the slave cylinder the dealership installed 15000miles ago took a massive **** and because of this burned the hell out of my clutch/flywheel/pressure plate...my question here is is it possible to resurface the flywheel, ive heard this isnt supposed to be done?? In that case if nothing works out im going spec stage 4!!!

 

It sounds like you toasted your clutch, you may have damaged some other internal parts. How did you hydralic fluid look before the smoke show?

BTW I'm currently running a Spec 4 clutch with a resurfaced flywheel....and I'm having good luck.

 

It looked ok but just ok from what i understand or how it seems to me the slave crapped out and i was about 20miles from the house so i drove the thing home and that burned the hell out of the clutch seeing as i was "shifting" with out a clutch disengaging
