Need LSD Additive in '97 Z28?

I was talking to a GM tech earlier, and he said before I change my rear end fluid with new Mobil 1, to find out if my year rear end even needs the LSD additive to avoid chatter. He said certain rear ends don't always need the additive, and didn't remember if the '93-'97 OEM Auburns needed the additive.

I bought a bottle of the GM additive, but do I even need it? Thanks.

Auburn YES , Torsen NO .

I think Torsen's weren't used as much until the later model ('98+) F-bodies? Not 100% sure on when they were/weren't used, because even up to '02, you could get the Auburn with the "performance" package, but otherwise I think Torsen's were standard?
