Exclamation Need input shaft seal help

heya,

pulled the front cover on the t56 to replace the input-shaft seal and now can't get the darn cover back on..

the cover slides on but the reverse shift rail won't go back into position, it is about 1/2 in offset from where it needs to be..

is there a trick to this??

ok somehow the guide for the reverse rail is no longer matching up with the fork.. you can get the cover on with the rail out but if you put the rail back in the only gears you can get are 1&2..

ideas?
