Need help on what spline axels to use? (nine inch)

Okay guys I Was wondering if there is anyone that can give me some insight on how tough or how much power different spline axels are in a ford rear.

Are 28 splines strong at all and what is the limit on them before they break, Can they be used in a stick application?

I was looking at 31 splines but that would require me to get a new center section and axels Is it worth it?
Thanks
Elec

You have a 9" section already? I have 31's in mine and thats the minimum i'd want.. .but a aftermaket set of axles' like moser/stranger should be strong enough in the 28 spline..

I'm running 33 Spline in my 12-bolt, and in my Nova's 9".

For most applications this is where I'd sit; unless you're in the 4-digit HP numbers.

I'm thinking of upgrading my Nova's rear axle again when I build the motor for it, but that's going to be a Monster Motor/Car at that point, where for my piece of mind I'll go to 35 or 40 spline axles due to the 16"+ wide MT Sportman Pro's out back.

Agree with the above.

For more specific feedback it would help to know how much hp you are making, what gear you are running, and the tire you will be using.
