need help with shift kit

So here is my dilemma. I have a transgo shift kit in my 95 TA. It does the nice neck snapping shift thing as all describe so i assume its at street/drag setting. I didnt install it i bought the car and it was already installed. I know a guy who is a transmission specialist. He said if i can get the part # and everything that was done during installation he can make it way more effective. THe problem is the person who owned the car doesnt know what was done during installation because it was two years ago and he had a shop install it. So is there anyway to find out what was done?

More importantly, what are things that CAN be done when installing it (so i have an idea of what COULD have been done).

I have the same kit in mine. You can adjust the firmness of the 1-2 shift with the spacers that are included in the kit. They are located in the 2nd accumulator. 1 spacer=crisp/firm , 2 spacers= very firm (probably what you have), 3 spacers= bangs hard all the time (annoying). In the kit, you replace the 2 springs in the accumulator also with stiffer springs. I've got the install manual here, and there are no part numbers for anything. There are other options that are in the kit. There are specific holes for you to drill in the separator plate with supplied drill bits. The drill bits are .093", and .082". There are 8 or 9 holes for you to drill, with options of how big on a few of them. Everything else in the kit is simply pulling this valve out and replacing with the kit supplied valve.

yep... what joelster said, i have the kit too. I used 2 spacers to get that nice firm shift from one -> two. That is probably what is done to it. No part numbers since all the crap that was in there was just stiffer springs and spacers. Nothing special.

Re: need help with shift kit

I guess you could take out the 2nd accumulator, and look at the spacers in there, and add a big washer the same width. All of the spacers were the same width. I was in a car that had 3 of them installed, and it was sooo freakin' annoying though. You'd just be cruising along at about 2000 rpm then "BANG" the whole dash would jump when it would shift, way too hard IMO.

thanks for the help

Re: need help with shift kit

those instructions suck IMO... and the video that comes with the kit contradicts the written instructions too... LOL. It was a PITA to do, let me tell you.
