need help please!!
i also put this in the engine tech cuz im not sure where to start
Alright I just got my tranny rebuilt yesterday by Transtech in thousand oaks and after getting the car back it is dying at every other stop light. It idles at about 600 and then starts stumbling and the rpm's start wavering from 600 to around 800 and if I dont gas it soon it falls and dies. I checked my IAC and MAF connections. Its dark out and I couldn't see all the vaccuum lines that well but they looked good. I didn't hear any leaks. Could the stumbling/dying be caused by a faulty transmission rebuild or defective parts? To be specific i had an Alto rebuild kit, transgo shift kit, bm trans cooler, and a 3000 edgeracing converter. Isn't 600 kind of a low idle rpm? ANY ADVICE AT ALL WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. -Phil

Re: need help please!!
I'd do a run-through of everything when it's light. The engine leans back when taking the tranny in & out unless it's held level, it could be that they didn't notice something get loose. An auto trans rarely causes problems with the engine.
Re: need help please!!
The lock up could be stuck on. This means the converter clutch is staying engaged. Some causes might be a bad converter (even if it's new, people screw up), something elecrtical, like a pinched ground wire to the TCC solenoid in the transmission, a bad TCC solenoid, or a stuck TCC valve in the pump.
If the lock up clutch in the converter stays engaged then it'll kill the engine when you come to a stop everytime.

Re: need help please!!
i'm still having this problem and Transtech in thousand oaks ain't doing jack to help me out. the converter is an edge racing converter and they come highly recommended by a lot of people i know. i'm gonna assume that it is not a converter issue and look into the electronics. Tomorow i'm gonna replace the TCC solenoid. if this fails where should i go from here? how would i go about checking for a stuck TCC valve?
Re: need help please!!
When you pull the TCC solenoid out of the pump, you'll see a small metal retainer and an "I" ring. The retainer has an offset hole in it You should be able to get a pick or a small screwdriver in that hole and push on the TCC valve. It's spring loaded on the other end of the valve, so it should return enough to rest on the metal retainer. If it doesn't touch the retainer with no upward pressure on it, then it's stuck.
