Question Need flywheel help!

Okay I'm getting ready to put a Spec Stage 2 Clutch in the car and I'm wondering about the flywheel. Should i just resurface the stock one or purchase a new one. The guy that's doing the install works at a chevy dealership and he recommended purchasing a new one. I'm just wanting to know if an aluminum one is worth the extra cash and do I need to get it balanced if i do get a new one and how do i do it or where can I have it done at?

just get the stocker resurfaced. You would have to have the new setup balnced to the old one. Good luck w/ the Spec. IMO the royaly suck.

SPEC is a good company. I love them. They hold real hard. If your going to do alot of autocross then get an aluminum FW. If not then Resurface the stocker.

thanks for the info guys. see i've heard good and bad things about the Spec clutches. I was also looking at the centerforce df as my other choice. Then I noticed the RAM clutches which i've never even heard of.

I went with the SPEC Steel Flywheel for my Stage 3 setup. Something to consider is that cast iron flywheels are not the best surface to use with a high friction clutch. I would put money on most of the people on here who have problems with SPEC clutches are running their stock flywheels (somethings not resurfaced ) and have the ***** to blame the manufacturer.

I'm using the stock flywheel w/ a Spec 3 no problems. 30,000 miles and running strong.
