Need clutch master cylinder help.

Ok well I just got my new clutch master/slave cylinder today. How do you get the end of the master cylinder off that attached to the pedal? Cant see in there at all. Any help appreciated.

There is a small clip that has to be removed then the rod just slides off the stud on the pedal.

If you are looking towards the dash, what side is the clip on. And how do you go about getting it off? All I know is when I reach my hand in there I can spin somthing around on the end of that....

Re: Need clutch master cylinder help.

It is a PITA. You remove the dashboard knee bolster, get the driver seat as far back as you can, get a light in there so you can see, get on your back and wiggle up under the dash as far as you can. Then, use a small screw driver to pry up on the retainer part of the clip and at the same time push back on it til it moves up to the part with the larger ID and it will pop off the pin. Then look around on the floorboard to find out where it landed.

Getting it back on is almost as bad.

Yeah, then the fun really begins when you finally get get the master cylinder U-bolt off and wriggle the cylinder out from behind the power brake booster and then have to put the new one back in.

Sounds like a two person job to me. But I am hopeing it will not be that hard with the exhaust off and whatnot.

Re: Need clutch master cylinder help.

I did the R & R by myself, but it would definitely be easier with a second person.

Alright, well thanks for the help, I ended up getting it done today. Quite the job I have to say, but was very rewarding when done. Had a sense of acomplishment, lol. It was way worse getting it back in then it was getting out....I just had to get tempermental with the old one to get it back out
