My Tranny is Squeeling (A4)

My problem is that when I would take of from a light normally the tranny doesnt make any noise but at as soon as i hit 45mph+ its starts squeeling while giving it load but if I take my foot off the gas it will stop, give it load it will continue.
If I lauch hard it will squeel also, until i get off the gas or if Im under 45mph.
So just normal driving over 45mph with load on it squeels like a pig until i get off the gas.

Tranny fluid is full, not burnt... I have gotten my cartuned with firmer tranny shifts, could that be a problem?

Im thinking that it is my stock stall convertor going? What do you guys think?
Thanks, Josh

Could be the convertor. If it does it in more gears then one than it probably is. If your gonna pull the tranny, depending on the miles, you might just want to go ahead and do a rebuild while it's out. Save you from pulling it again when, or if, it decides to go on you.

BTW, the frimer shifts actually help the tranny. Instead of easing into the gear like normal, it grabs the gear, and doesn't let the clutch packs slip as much and wear out. Not sure the effects on the convertor though. I would think under normal driving it would be able to handle it. But then again, what's "normal."

Thanks for the quick reply... Um the tranny has 57,xxx on it while the stocl stall has 178,000, so thranny has been replace by GM...Im also think that it might be the stall.

Yeah, with that many miles for the convertor, that would probably be the answer. Man, I'm surprized they didn't put one in with the rebuild. Live and learn I guess. Also, forget about the rebuild. You should be fine on 57 something.

Are you absolutely sure this isn't your serpentine belt making noise? F-Bodies are notorious for squeeling belts. Many times it's improperly diagnosed as a transmission problem. Most of the times it happens at higher RPM's (around shift points), but if you've got a tentioner going bad, it could cause a problem like you're explaining.

Well I checked my tensioner out and it seemed fine but my alternator had a little squeeking when I spun it so maybe the alternator is going (bearing wise).

The tranny shifts perfectly but Ill let you know how tomarro goes.
