After less than a year, my spec stage 3 clutch slips bad @ WOT on a hard launch with a good tire.
I thought these things were supposed to last? This has been way less than a year/12K miles ago that it was installed. Why does my bolt-on LS1 car make this clutch slip so bad? I think I'm disappointed.

either incorrect installation. or something was missing. Did you use a resurfaced flywheel? If so you should have installed the metal spacer behind the Master cylinder.
I've seen spec 3's hold up to over 2 years of 6K launches on nitrous.

The guy I bought the car from had just installed it, and unfortunately I wasn't around when the clutch was installed, and I think a shop actually did it which may be more bad than good, but I don't know for certain. I do know they installed a new thunder racing billet flywheel.
I talked to another guy today, and I told him that this was about launch number eight and he said that the clutch might have just been (heat) fading as I continued to beat on it. It did smell hot at the end of my "testing" session. He compared the slipping clutch to fading braking performance on a RR/ auto-x car.
The last launch was a 3500 launch on ET streets. The tach quickly hovered around 6K after taking off. My rpm then fell and then I ran first gear out like I should have to start with. I, at first, thought it was the tires spinning, but they weren't, and the clutch's smell was proof it was the culprit.
Could this slipping be the result of it getting hot? I damaged my (4.1:1) differential carrier in the middle of all of this, so I'm not in a position to go run outside and try launching on the clutch cold.

My SPEC3 lasted about 20 months before slipping. I am now installing a New ST with Aluminium Flywheel in its place.
Upon inspecting the SPEC, the disc (carbon) just plain wore out. It was driven daily. I would have expected the disc to last much longer than it did, so I dont know what the NORM is for disc life in these cluthches.

I think I have posted my opinion on this about eleventy billion times. So, for the eleventy billionth and first time: if you are going to launch on a prepped surface with sticky tires, get the Street Twin. It is by far the best clutch for a 4th gen available. Unfortunately it is also the most expensive.

I had the SPEC stage 3 lasted 8K miles in the car and it was always troublesome. It finally went out after the springs blew all together.
I'm using a Ram HD right now... and for the money it's a very badass clutch.

and boosted torque comes in a lot harder...if you catch my drift
