My magical auto tranny stopped working

My tranny was mostly fine up until today it would slip slightly if I just floored it while driving normal. But at the track from a dead stop when it was mainly cold it would shift good. It always drove fine just normal driving around town. Today I had trouble taking off from lights it would slip a whole bunch then kinda slam in gear and go or just start slipping again.

Sounds like it may be cooked. What condition is the fluid in? Is it black or brown? Does it smell burnt?
The forward apply piston could also be cracked. It's pretty common..

Re: My magical auto tranny stopped working

should I get my tranny rebuilt and put a new converter in it. Or should I buy a built tranny tell them to put a shift kit in it and know I have a whole new tranny with warranty.

A good transmission rebuild will require much more than a "shift kit"..Many generic builders "miss the boat" when it comes to performance 4L60E's. We're a shop that specializes in racing 700 and 4L60E's.
The build level that works for you pretty much depends on what you do with the car, or what you may have planned.
Did you check out the web site in my signature?
Where are you located?

Thanks,
Frank
