Is my flywheel too much?

I got the big steel flywheel with my Street Twin and was wondering if it's too big(heavy) for a bolt on car? Will I be leaving a lot on the table? Most likely I'm going to run stock sized DR's through a stock 10 bolt...maybe slightly modded.

So do you think the flywheel is gonna suck up too much power? Should I go with a lighter one? Thanks!

Re: Is my flywheel too much?

You don't loose HP with a heavier flywheel, it "stores" the energy. The penality is that it takes a bit longer to rev up the flywheel, therefore road race guys don't like them. For drag racing, the stored energy will help prevent bogging off the line as the flywheel's interia will help keep it spinning when the clutch is engaged.

Which would make perfect since if I were using slicks correct? But if I'm using a stock sized drag radial on a 10-Bolt would that inertia really help me more than it would hurt me?

If you road race, it will hurt you, if you drag race it can help you. If you hardly race, it will probably hurt you. Your choice.
