Is my differential wore out?

Today we got about 2" of snow here in southern wisconsin and I noticed my car was getting stuck everywhere. I've had this car for over 5 years and never had this happen before and every thing is 100% the same as when I bought it. ( Except for alot more rust ). When I bought the car I looked at the rpo codes and found a GU2 which means 2:73 rear, and when I jacked it up and rotated either tire, the other one went the opposite way so I knew it wasn't posi. Now, today when I was getting stuck, only the passenger side tire was moving, regardless of how much I stepped on the gas. So when I got home I jacked up the rear of the car and spun each tire, and only the tire I rotated moved, but when I spun each tire, the drive shaft moved. With the car in park, I can still rotate both tires but the drive shaft does not move. Also when I try to rotate the driver's side tire in park or neutral it turns very hard, and I checked the drum brake and it's not holding it back. So my question is why is the drivers side tire not tuning. I found some dry pavement and could not get it to turn.

1989 Firebird Formula, Tbi 305, 150hp, 126000 miles, rusted but I love it.

Nobody has any thoughts on this at all. Any input would help. I would take off the differential cover to see what's going on, but I'm waiting for spring time when it's a little warmer.

Your post is rather hard to read, but I can't think of many was an open carrier diff can break and let the car move at all.

Thanks for the info. Is this something I can see just by pulling off the cover, or does something have to be removed to see them. I don't plan on pulling the cover for about 2 months yet. Still to cold and we have snow on the ground here in Wisconsin.

I see you live not to far from me. Didn't see that before I posted my last message. I go through waupun about three times a year to get to upper Michigan.

I'll pull it off and take a look, but it'll be a while. I'll send you a message and let you know what I find. I'm going to wait about 1-2 months until the snow is gone. Thanks for the help.
