Well the reason i'm asking is my console only shows the following P,N,OD,D,2??
I was thinking about getting some 3.73 gears, would I be still okay on the freway??

I'm fairly certain that means you have the 2.73 gear option. The 3.23's came with the 1st gear option.

And yes, you have a 4 spd automatic 4L60E.

 

It's a three speed auto with overdrive. If you go to 3.73's you'll be turning about 2500 RPM in OD. You're gas mileage might drop about 2 mpg give or take some. 3.42's turn 2350 at 70.

not having the first gear option means that your car is equipped with 2.73 gears. i got in an argument with my neighbor when he got his camaro and he said his was different than mine because it was a 93 and mine was a 94, went and talked to the dealer and that is when i found out that the 2.73 cars didnt have 1st gear option. i have heard no trouble from people running 3.73's. just remember, if you do indeed have the 2.73 car, you have a different rear end carrier and you have to order the right ring and pinion for your carrier.

 

i was going to purchase richmond gears, also will it be a good idea to purchase a new differential? What is the difference between limited slip, posi and what would be the best?

 

You have a 4L60E 4-sp automatic tranny. Cars with a 2:73 gear ration did not have 1st gear maked on the shifter. You still have a 1st gear but it cannot be held in that gear the Tranny's electronics handles the shift from 1st to 2nd.
