MY A4 starts off in 3rd Gear!

Well just got my tranny rebuilt the other day and my car starts off in third gear! what causes this ? it does not downshift I can Manually downshift and its fine but i have to shift from first to second to drive..... what controls this ? Does anyone know

I wouldn't waste time trying to figure it out - just take it back to the shop/person that rebuilt it.

It sounds like it's got a manual valve body with one HELLUVA shift kit!

I honestly don't know much about HOW automatics work, but I know that (with old TH350 / TH400's) there are shift kits that will force you to make every shift, and the transmission will no longer work "automatically". I don't know if that's correlated to being manual valve body or not though?
