Re: My 6 spd did something weird this morning, help me out

So I've pretty much stopped driving my TA because of this problem. It's unpredictable when it does it, but it still does it.

So in fear of breaking something else, looks like she'll hiberante early. I guess its the release bearing as said above because otherwise the car drives and acts the same.

So it loks like pulling the transmission is in order for me this winter, what fun. My TA has approx 83k miles on it and I would put money on it that its the factory clutch in there. Should I replace that too while I'm in there? Seems like a no brainer to me. I'm just nervous because I've seen previous installs result in the clutch pedal not feeling the same.

Unless someone in here can give me a few things to check before I totally dissect her, thats what I got my mind set on now.

My car does the exact same thing, but I don't know what it is. Would love to find out.

Sure wish a camaroz28.com tech God would walk in here and know what it is!

Well i read the first few posts and then skipped the rest cause the same thing happened to me lol. Yeah it only ground whenever youd go to take off. I tryed it in second also and it still ground like hell. but at first you could baby it and ride the clutch and it wouldnt grind then it got worse and it would grind almost every time. Then a little later my clutch started slipping so i got a new centerforce dual friction clutch installed at my g/fs dads shop and he told me the fork had to be cut out with a torch but everything else looked fine. Had the flywheel resurfaced and new rear main seal put in while they were back there and it hasnt ground at all. He didnt know what it was but the new clutch and fork got rid of the grinding. Also would just like to add the car had 145000 on it and i dont know what kind of clutch was in there. How long does a stock clutch usually last on average?
