Moser vs Strange

Hey guys Ia m looking at getting a 12-bolt and I want to know what your experiences have been with these two. Like where you got it and if you had any problems and how much it cost. Thanks

Sorry nobody really responded. Kinda makes 'em look stupid when they say to use the "search" feature, huh? I've searched on this for the last 4 hours and I still had to ask because every thread I found by searching didn't have any f***ing replies in them. Go figure.

Re: Moser vs Strange

OK, you have my vote for Strange. I got it fully optioned with the heavy duty posi, 33 spline axles, ABS and girdle. I have 3.73's in it, and its quiet. It came complete, filled with fluid, all I did was paint it with POR-15 flat black. The Strange unit is a few bucks more, but to me was worth it, and is also my brand of preference when it comes to rear end parts. From what I have heard on this board about the Moser, you will need to do some assembly with it. You will need to transfer over your backing plates from the stock rear over to the Moser, and I believe have bearings pressed onto the axles? Either way, you will be doing some assembly, and with the Strange, it will be completely bolt in.

Re: Moser vs Strange

I too found that thread, 5.0. But what I did not find was good info for my setup, which is why I started a new thread. I guess it just bothers me when someone has a legitimate, unique question and they are immediately ordered to use the search feature. I can understand using the search feature for questions like, "What size is the stock rear?" but when you need to know what will need to be done to get a 12 bolt or 9" to fit your particular car with whatever mods you may already have, it is then appropriate to start your own thread.

Re: Moser vs Strange

Happy Strange 12-bolt owner here.

What switched me over from the Moser what that the Strange unit comes fully assembled; not some-assembly-required. People say it's not a big deal, but not everyone owns a press to press it together, Not to mention, how do you really test a axle that's not put together?

The strange unit on the other hand comes fully tested on a dyno where's it's loaded and run to do the initial seating of the gears; you still have to take it easy the first 500-1000 miles.

Responding with anger and throwing in a gratuitous F-word to work the language filter overtime is no way to improve your chances of a response.

Re: Moser vs Strange

Where did you guys get your Strange rear ends from? One of the supporting vendors?
Im thinking about a 12 bolt next spring. Do you think 285 size tires will still fit under the fender well with a 12 bolt?
Thanks

if you get your 12 bolt the same width as the stock rear axle, which most people do, then your tire fitment issues will be the same as stock.
