moser or strange

k, well after doing quite a few searches I still have a question, hopefully someone can help me out

well I'm looking for a new rear end for my car (00 trans am M6)
I'm not planing on buying it right away as I need to save money for it but
still want to know what to get.
but my question is I've heard that the 12 bolt
can start whining after some track use and I don't want that of course. I want to know which brand (moser or strange or both) whines or is prone to the whining.
here's a write up I read from exotic performance plus that the moser 12 bolt starts whining and therefore a 9'' is better:

"The nine inch will handle the power, plus we prefer the way the torque arm is bolted to the nine inch in the same way the oem rear-end is attached. (This is the only good thing about the stock 10 bolt...) The Moser 12 bolt uses four short bolts to attach the torque arm, and they have a habit of loosening up, even when loc-tite is used. Why the nine inch is stronger than the 12 bolt. The 9-inch has an internal rear-pinion support that also supports the gear end of the pinion to limit gear deflection under high torque loads. This seems to be the major reason why the 9 inch doesn't start whining after high rpm clutch dumps, when the 12 bolt will pick up noise. The 9-inch locates its pinion gear lower on the ring gear to improve tooth contact, than the 12 bolt does. The 9-inch has a 0.125-inch larger ring-gear diameter and internal pinion support than the 12 bolt does. This is not much of a difference, but it is worth noting."

so with that said the moser can whine. but I have heard nothing about the strange whining. can anyone help me out?? thanks in advance

Strange are more of a direct bolt in. They are fully assembled and ready to go. The Moser you have to put together your self, has no brake line brackets, takes different swaybar mounts, sometimes needs shorter driveshaft

The Strange also uses the stock "through bolts" to attach the torque arm, not the 4 individual bolts described in the quote you posted. I've had my Strange for 8 years, and the 3.73 US/Strange gears that came with it were never noisy, and the 4.11 US/Strange Pro Streets that I have in there now are dead silent. I'm pushing 800 flywheel HP and 800 lb-ft torque through it, with the spray.

so your strange doesn't whine then after taking it to the track? i expect some noise being that i'm going to have 4.10 gears but i just want to avoid the rear being too loud. i'm also considering the 9'' but I still have some time to decide, thanks for your help.

Price, and quality, and ease of install all have to weigh in Strange's 12 bolt.

I got my Moser back when the new Strange's weren't out yet. After fixing leaks, and doing some custom work to install, not to mention issues with my rear sway bar hitting my rear, I woulnd'nt think twice about going with a S60 over the Moser.

After reading several posts on this subject, I’ve been looking over both the Moser and Strange 12-bolts. It looks like Strange has a more complete package, as they will install the caliper mounting brackets and press the bearings on the axels. Therefore, the Strange will be ready to install upon arrival. But with the Moser you’ll have to install your own caliper brackets and press-on the bearings.

Both Moser and Strange have the 4-channel ABS setup with the reluctor rings pressed-on on the axles (for an extra charge). Something else to consider, Moser claims to have a “two day” turn-around on a complete 12-bolt rear-end , whereas, Strange told me it would be “4 weeks” for a complete 12-bolt.

After thinking about a new 12-bolt for several weeks and reading all the posts here on the forum, a very "Strange" feeling came over me! So, I got on the phone today and ordered a new Strange 12-bolt with 4.30s, 33 spline axels, Eaton posi, 1350 yoke and support cover.

I’m sending Strange a set of caliper brackets, so the rear-end will be completely assembled when it arrives and ready to install. And, I’m sure I made the right choice with the Strange from what I’ve read.
