Moser 9" questions

I am installing a Moser 9" in my 95 Z28. It seems like the driveshaft is a bit too short now. It is a brand new 1LE aluminum 3 inch driveshaft. Can it be lengthened? How much shaft should go into the trans? I know while it is up on jack stands, the rear is hanging down all the way and the driveshaft is pulling out somewhat.

You should really jack up the rear and get the suspension at its normal ride height. Then you should have at least 1/2" of available driveshaft travel into the transmission. If you'r drag racing and launching hard I would increase that up to about 3/4" of available travel. If you're hanging out over an inch then I would consider getting a longer DS. Hanging out too far will lead to vibration issues and you may loose valuable spline engagement.

If you're making enough power to require the 9-inch, I'm surprised you are still using the 1LE DS... it isn't going to take a lot of abuse.

If you can determine your required dimensions from the existing DS, I have an almost new Mark Williams 3" chrome moly DS with TH400 input yoke for sale. I could see how it compares to the dimension you need.
