Ok I have researched until I am blue in the face so I am going to ask any ways. I bought my 97 Z28 in December and although when I bought it I had it up on a lift to check everything out underneath I never really got into spending a lot of time to see exactly what all had been done to the car. So, other day jacked car up and put on stands and to my surprise I have a 12 bolt rear end! I never pulled the cover off to count ring/pinion teeth but rotated wheel 1 full turn to driveshaft and determined it has 3.73:1 ratio. Now I am not well versed with 12 bolt rear end but I am almost positive this is a Moser 12 Bolt. I have looked at pics and it looks identical to my rear end. Does Moser and the Chevy 12 bolt utilize the same housing? Big question IS...are there any identifying markings, stamps and such that will tell me for sure it is a Moser? I have not pulled wheel off to look at end cap to see what they might be yet either. So whats best way to determine what it is I have? Thanks in advance!

As I recall, the Moser 12-bolt does not use the "through" type bolts to attach the torque arm. It uses a pair of individual bolts for the top of the torque arm mount, and another pair for the bottom of the mount. The bolts coming loose is a frequent problem. The Strange 12-bolt, on the other hand, has the stock through bolt configuration on the torque arm.
And as you are already aware, the ends of the axles should have an "M".

Thanks for the reply Fred! The torque arm does use a pair of individual bolts for the top of the torque arm mount, and another pair for the bottom of the mount. If I can ever get a break from work I am gonna pull a wheel and checkout the end cap. I am positive it is a Moser rear end. Again, thanks for the reply and info on those bolts coming loose on the torque arm!

BMR has a disclaimer on the warranty of their torque arm because of the problems with the Moser bolts.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MOSER 12 BOLT USERS: This product is only warrantable on rear axles that utilize the factory style “through bolts” to connect the torque arm to the rear end. Moser 12 bolt rear ends utilize a threaded bolt hole that has been proven to have bolt retention issues when used with aftermarket torque arms. If you have this particular rear axle, understand this warranty disclaimer and still intend to use this product, be informed that lock washers, or Loctite brand thread sealants are not substitutes for periodic bolt inspection.

Any suggestions on these bolts besides to periodically retighten to spec? Here is a few pics of the rear taken with my Droid X...not the best but...

I run a Moser 12 on my 97ss. Yes, 2 bolts top and 2 bottom. Most torque arms have a larger holes and the T_arm can move under lcyclic load. I use red loc_tite and a beaker bar to load the fasteners, Got to check em twice a season if you are abusive. Otherwise, I am OK with it. I was also thinking of use of a washer on the bottom bolts, and, welding it to the T_arm to reduce clearance. This will help with bearing load,

Amazing you mentioned that cause that was a thought I had already! Learned to do that from time spent with Uncle Sammy years ago. I wonder if one can purchase Grade bolts that would already have a hole to safety wire them? Yea be a pain to cut , torque and rewire every so often but! May have to do a search for bolts like this and see what I can find. Any thoughts on this Fred???
