mine doesnt lock 1st either... ive done the 1-2-1 about 3 times, but Ive managed to react fast enough so that no damage was done. Are our cars supposed to lock out first? because I know I cant put it into first at 55 when im coming up to a light [with the clutch pressed]. But that isnt really doing anything for me. Anyway, 1st definetly does not feel locked when shifting out of second at 5k because as ive already stated, Ive found it a few times.

 

Well, judging by the fact that you had problems with the wheels turning at different speeds it only makes more sense that it was the spider gears that got broken.
