Angry missed a gear and now problems!

to start out with, i dont know what i was thinking! anyways i missed third gear and ended up in first going about 65...and now my car is doing all kinds of funny things. i should be smacked for doing this. when i turn, it makes clunky noises, and today i was getting gas, and when i left, my axle seemed locked, and it wasnt letting my tires slip to turn, and my car would hardly turn at all, and my inside tire was spinning, also once today, i shifted gears and let out on the clutch, and it just reved for a second with out any power to the wheels, and then there was another load clunk, and it took off. if anyone has any ideas please help me out

.

That may be one for a mechanic to look at on a lift broh. Could be trouble with U joints, tranny and/or speed sensors... or more. Sorry to hear of this. Sucks.

I got lucky though because 15,000 miles later i have no problems. im on 125K now

That's what I thought. The computer shouldn't let it go back to first until you're at a certain speed that is safe.

It's very easy to overpower the stick back into first when doing a powershift.

Definetely rear end damage. Some people have also bent a pushrod or 7 when doing this, so check those also.

You should have been locked out of 1st get at 65mph in the first placed.

How is your shifting... does it feel smooth? I'm wondering if maybe you damadged something iternally in your T-56 ... bent shift rail? Shift Fork?

" shifted gears and let out on the clutch, and it just reved for a second with out any power to the wheels, and then there was another load clunk, and it took off"

That will definantly cause that....

Pull the pumkin cover and tell us what you see.... hopefully it's just the rear... anything back there is pretty easy to fix.

ok its been a few days longer then i said it would with taking the diff cover off, but i finally got to it tonight, and what a surpise to hear that a few pieces fell out, well actually two individual gear teeth, and then a larger piece with two teeth on it, and those are just the ones that fell out with the oil! so who knows what else is up in there? so now what? were going to put everything back together and take it to the shop. what all does it sound like im going to need to have replaced? and how much do you guys think it might be at the shop? thanks for the help guys! im guessing im going to need new gears, and im wanting to upgrade to 4.11's. where is the best place to get them? thanks again!

Should just be a ring and Pinion replacement... unless you somehow damadged your differential also...

But other wise ... youll need a Ring and Pinion installation kit and some new gears... You can get some 4:10's ... atleast I think that's what you mean.... pretty much any where for around 200.00 Richmond is popular for f34kups... but Motives and Strange gears are nice... Consider yourself ... lucky that you don't have to drop and pop that tranny .... well hopefully that's all the damage done... good luck...

just incase anyone is still out there listening, it ends up that my ring and pinion is fine so i wont be replacing the gears, all that is crap is the differential. i was wishing it was the gears, because then i could have upgraded and fixed the problem anyways, but now we have to find a car trailer and load it up and take it to town!
