Midwest converter not engaging into back of Eagle crank and binding up, help!

Today was going to be engine install day, but I've ran into a snag. After putting the transmission on the back of the motor, I tried to rotate it over by hand to make sure everything was ok. Much to my surprise, the motor would not turn over by hand. I went back, and the torque converter would not spin. I removed the transmission, and the problem seems to be a hole in the back of the crank where a snout of some sort from the torque converter should engage to.

Here you can see the front of the T/C that engages to the back of the crank-

Here you can see the indention on the back of the crank where the T/C should slide in to-

Can anyone help me here? I have people on the way to help put install this motor.......

Did you mount the transmission up w/the 2 studs and check the clearances before tightening the bellhousing bolts?

Are you sure the converter was all the way in the transmissions? Check your pilot, and crank with a dial caliper. Take a piece of low grit emery paper and sand the paint off the pilot. Try the converter on the back of the motor before you bolt the trans up.

You're using a 11" converter for the cam you've got? You're gonna need more stall. If they've tried to make lot of stall with an 11" core, you'll lose alot of MPH. the most we go with an 11" is 3200...Beyond that, it's 9.5" territory.

I ended up using a die grinder with some sanding rolls and taking a little material off of the converter snout so it would fit in the back of the crank. It didn't take much sanding, and now everything fits fine.

It's actually a 9.5" converter with an 11" lockup housing. Right now it's a 2800 stall, and I know I need more than that, but when I get the trans built I will get it stalled up
