MGW shifter

I want do get a short throw shifter for my trans am because I don't like how the stock hurst feels. I'm thinking about getting an MGW shifter, Ive read about them on ls1tech and have heard nothing but good things about it just wanted to see what people thought about it over here or if anyone has it. http://www.mgwltd.com/camaro_short_throw_shifter.shtml

Re: MGW shifter

I've never heard of it before, but it looks like it's a well-built piece. I don't really like the way they did the stick offset, though.

There are three common options I've seen:
Pro 5.0 - $185
B&M Ripper - $200
Hurst Billet Plus - $215

Prices are from afterthoughtsauto.com, which is one of our site sponsors and is where I got my Pro 5.0. I don't feel like I sacrificed anything by getting the cheapest one -- the Pro 5.0 is an excellent shifter. That's the one I recommend.

Use the money you save to instead get a Lou's Short Stick to go with your Pro 5.0. It's $215 for the set and you'll love it.

I was thinking about going with that setup but I wasn't sure if the stick would make it too low and look akward. I have seen some pics where it looks good and some where the shifter looks so low I don't like it. Do you have any pics of yours?

Re: MGW shifter

Get the Pro 5.0 with the stick that comes with it. Try it. If its too tall, you can cut more than 1" of thread off it. I had a Hurst with Lou's short stick and it was in the boot. When I put a Hurst line lock switch on the stick, the switch was too deep in the console. I switched to the Pro 5.0 with the threads cut back about an inch and it was much better.

Mine isn't anywhere near that short. I don't have any pics, but I'll try to remember to take one and post it later.
