Mcleod Clutch, Stock Car

Will i break my stock rear if i install a Mcloud Twin Disc??? I have simple mods, CAI, Throttle Body. Im more so interested in this clutch for the future head, cam, headers, looking for 420rwhp or so...But thats another year from now. Im leaning on buying the stock assembly, and just running it until i put the mods in along with the rear, then ill break it obviously, get a replacement (lifetime warranty) sell it, and get a mcloud. How streetable is the mcloud? I know there are other post on this, and yes i have looked at a few of them. I am better just getting the mcloud now or what? stocker = $250 mcloud i have found for $850 shipped w/master cyl. i just dont want to break my rear cause i wont have enough money to replace it right away

If your NICE to it, ie only running street tires, and no clutch dumps, your rear end will be ok. You start side stepping it with drag radials and bye bye rear end.

So its a question of self discapline.

Theres a very good chance. I've heard of many people breaking them with the ST even just running it on the street. The stock rear can hold up to a good amount of abuse in most cases using a softer hitting clutch but the ST is usually too much for it. I would get a 12bolt or 9" before getting that clutch if I was you. There are other good clutches out there that will hold the kind of power your planning and work with the 10bolt especially just for street use. I'd look at the SPEC 2 or 3 or just the single disc Mcleod if your sticking with the 10bolt.

Don't even bother trying unless you have extra money laying around for the new rear that you will be ordering a few weeks later. I put a ST in my basically stock car and was driving very easy since I only had 250 breakin miles on it and the ST needs 500 miles before it is reccomended to start driving hard and it took my rear out with a LOUD BANG!!!! That was at the beginning of summer right after I got my car out and now I have spent the rest of the summer setting it up with the 12-bolt from Strange which if you are curious will run you a good $2-3K. Don't get me wrong that clutch is the most BADA** clutch I have ever felt. I knew the first time I shifted it my rear would not hold up for very long. I totally reccomend getting the ST over any other clutch out there you just have to be ready for it! McLeod ST
