Mcleod Street Twin
Mcleod Street Twin
How is this clutch for traffic areas? I am looking a clutch that'll handle 380rwhp and hopefully the same amount of torque at the wheels...
It won't be that much I know, but theres always hope. L0L
XE 227/233 Cam with the hardened pushrods, lift springs, and the 1.6rr. That with some LTs, I am hoping to be pushing about 360rwhp which is what Dave from Combinationmotorsports said is easily accesible. ANYWAY
I need a sickass grabbing clutch for that setup. I was thinking Mcleod Street Twin because that is said to be the best clutch. But I need a clutch that'll last on heavier traffic areas.
For the guys with the Street Twin... how is it in stop and go places?

Re: Mcleod Street Twin
Heres my experience with clutches....
stock - blew it to pieces with about 380rwhp
McLeod single disk - good clutch, almost stock feel. didnt start slipping to I hit 600+rwhp (although its rated a 450)
Spec stage 3 (both carbon and ceramic) - excellent at the track with high rpm launches, very grabby. I personally never had a problem with mine, although I know 4 other people who had theirs grenade on them with one taking out a bell housing and oil pan. Not so good driving in traffic, or looking for a parking space at wal-mart.
Street Twin - best of both worlds, looking back I wish I would have bought this clutch in the first place and saved me some time but it is pretty expensive.
Honestly I think the Mcleod single disk would be fine for your setup but it ultimately comes down to your future plans for the car and how much you want to spend on a clutch.

Re: Mcleod Street Twin
So you think the Mcleod Single Disk would be ideal for my purposes? I mean... cash is an issue, but if I have too... i'll just save a little more. I want the best clutch I can get for my setup. If the Street Twin will do what I want but give me better results, then i'll go with the Street Twin but i'm not totally sure if 380rwhp really calls for one... because someone told me once that lack of power can actually hurt a clutch? Is that true?
