Mcleod Single Disc + LT4 PP ? Good Combo

The car only has 30k on it, but I am changing clutches cuz I am dropping the trans anyhow.

Is the Mcleod Single Disc better then the Ram clutches? I do a little racing, and my car is mainly bolt ons. Like Exhaust,Intake,RR's and maby headers.

I want a good combo for under $500.

Do I need a new TO bearing or could I resuse my old one, what kind of TO bearing should I get if I need a new one?

Always get a new TO bearing. With just bolt ons, I'd doubt you'd see a difference between the Mcleod single and the basic RAM. RAM does have 3 stages though, so check those out too, but I doubt they're under $500. Where are you planning on getting the LT4 PP?

I have no idea, someone told me to get that but I cant find it either. Im thinking I'll just get the RAM Powergrip kit. Seems to be the best value. What are my other options?

I'd go with the whole RAM setup if you can't find a LT4 PP. All the others seem to be stock design anyways.

My friend ran that combo in his supercharged 383 and it survived many a pass at the track and was VERY streetable. I just installed the McLeod single disc with the McLeod PP and an aluminum flyhwheel (really made byValeo, like all of the other PPs) and couldn't be happier with it.

You hit it right on the head. It doesn't matter where you buy your P/P (mcleod, ram, spec,ACT or even autozone)etc... Valeo and Seco are the two major Internationl mfg for LT- diaphram style P/P. Happiness is knowing your LT-1 P/P is from Korea!

K, you cant really buy the PP seperate.

But what if I bought the entire Valeo clutch kit which comes w/ the following:
Valeo heavy-duty Pressure Plate (Made in U.S.A.)

Valeo heavy-duty Clutch Disc (Made in U.S.A.)

Throw-out Bearing (Made in U.S.A.)

Pilot Bearing (Made in U.S.A.)

Alighment Tool (Made in U.S.A.)

And then just bought a mccleod single disc and used that inplace of the valeo clutch. Would everything work out? Or do I need TO bearing and Pilot bearings specifict to the mccleod clutch? The reason why is I can get that clutch kit for $250 and then just add the price of the clutch to that.

I have a few close friends that work at mcleod and it was my understanding that the p/p come on a slow boat from Korea and then are distributed to the various dealers/Mfg across the country. As far I know any T.O. Bearing that is LT specific as long as it is the round bearing not the square bearing (Corvette) should work. I know that when you buy a Mcleod P/P the T.O. Bearing comes attached to the unit and it should be shipped with a Plastic alignment tool.

I may have even heard stories that a few years ago there may have been shortages of LT P/P and there may have been Purchases of LT P/P at the local AUTOZONE then painted red and sold as mcleod units. Who knows?

I don't see why that wouldn't work, but I really wanna know what makes the Mcleod PP worth $320 vs. the Autozone one for ~$200...

It's painted Red and the box Says Mcleod on it.

Really. The Previous owner before B&M purchased Mcleod wanted a low/medium volume of production, so he wouldn't have to employ 25+ people. So the way to do that is Raise the prices. The higher the user pays, the less people buy the product, the less people he has to employ the more profit he made. Perfect example, I don't remember the part, but there is somthing they sell that is outsourced from China that costs 12 cents a unit and MSRP is like $96 a piece. Tell me that's not a profit.

It's true. Same exact pressure plate. It's just painted. Still says Valeo on it.
