manual tranny instead of automatic=> good performance increase?

Hello!
For the market of used parts here in Germany I have the great possibility to buy a 6 speed Borg Warner as a set with clutch, hydraulic parts etc. => all parts to do the switch. But is it worth the money (~$ 2800) ?

My car is a 69 Camaro with a 92' Corvette LT 1 and a 4L60. This winter I will install a 3.73 rear end, because I think that there is a gap between the 2. to 3. gear.

Thanks for tipps and experiences.

It is just a personal preference if you want to shift or not. Though an auto takes away a little overall HP, an auto car is normally faster and more consistent in a drag race. It just depends on how you use the car and what you really want. If you are only looking for a performance increase, I would say look somewhere else.

I actually swapped fom a T56 to a 4L60E and am quite happy with it(in a straight line and driving around town), but being in Germany with the possibility of traveling at high speeds on your wonderful roads I think a T56 may be a great option for you. If I lived in Germany I would certainly want a T56 in one of these cars.

Also, congratulations on owning something very very cool. I'm sure people stare in awe when they see you drive by. Every time I have been to Germany the only "American" car I've seen is a 94 V6 Firebird and an old 70's Cadillac.

Rob said it, it's all personal preference. Do you like shifting or not? If you do, go for it.
