M6 drivetrain noise
M6 drivetrain noise
OK, usually when I’m driving my car, I have the t-tops off and windows down, so I usually don’t hear anything. The other night driving home, I had the t-tops on, and windows up. Now, my car does have polyurethane motor mounts and trans mount, along with a stock length torque arm that bolts to a BMR cross member that relocates the mounting point off the tail shaft of the trans onto the cross member. The drive shaft is a Spohn 3” steel balanced shaft. OK, for the noise, I do here some while driving down the highway, but when I let off the gas and I’m coasting, you can definitely hear a whine. When I press the clutch in, it does go away somewhat, but I can hear a slight wine from the 4.11's, but I still hear a noise coming from the trans. So the noise is mostly on deceleration. Is this normal? Is this something that some of you guys with similar setups hear? I just want to be sure before I start tearing into things. Everything does feel smooth though; no vibration coming from anywhere. I’m going to check the rear and trans fluid tonight. Any other suggestions?
