LT1 T56 Question...

I was wondering if the LT1 T56'd F-bodys have a switch for when you just slightly press the clutch pedal. I know they have the "Push clutch to the floor to start" switch, but wasn't sure if there is one that basically is activated whenever the clutch is even slightly depressed.

My buddy's Acura RSX has this.

If the F-bodys have this, where does the wire go? I assume it would go to the ECU. If so, what pin and connector.

Thank you in advance!

Sorry, but I'm not following. What does this swich do?

There is an ignition switch that closes the cicuit once you push the clutch, but it (the pedal) really only needs to be pushed down about 2". Tat is what you referred to. What is the purpose of this other swtich you speak of?

Re: LT1 T56 Question...

I'm not sure what the purpose is, other than I would assume it tells the ECU something.

But what you are saying is the clutch only has to be depressed 2 inches in order for the car to start?

What my friends RSX has is a switch that when the clutch is depressed about 1/2 inch, it activates, tells something to do something. Then, he also has the switch that interupts/connects the ignition circuit to allow for starting, which requires the clutch to be almost to the floor.

I put a T-56 in my Impala SS, and I want to run an F-body base code on the tune, so I can get the computer control of the reverse lockout. I already have the wiring figured out for this. I was just wondering if there was more that I could/should do to make the ECU happier/be told all the information it wants to hear.

That make better sense? If it doesn't, that probably because it doesn't apply to the F-body's, which answers my question.

Re: LT1 T56 Question...

Yes. It is the switch to disengage the cruise control if you push the clutch. It connects to the switch on the brake pedal with a Y harness and then to the underdash wiring harness.

I don't know if it connects to the PCM. If you're doing a swap a lot of people just don't use that switch.

Re: LT1 T56 Question...

Great, thanks. That makes sense as to what it is on my friends car. I just wasn't sure if it was going to report anything back to the ECU, for say the IAC or anything else. If it was, then it would be worth hooking up to me, but it appears as though it doesn't.

Thank you.

Re: LT1 T56 Question...

Its easier to just wire the rev lockout to the brake pedal. Or a switch or a corvette style T handle shifter like mine.

Re: LT1 T56 Question...

Ya, I have it on a switch now. And I don't personally like the brake pedal idea. Trying to do it the factory way, just makes me feel better.
