LT1 - McLeod Street Twin adj master install

I've searched the archives extensively.... did not see a definitive answer to this question:

In hooking up the master to the reservoir, how do the lines route? It seems to me that mine went behind a wire harness under the brake booster, which would preclude me from removing the master and reservoir as a unit. (I thought I had to unhook the resevoir from the old master before I could get either out. Am I smoking crack? It seems to me it would be nice if you could get everything hooked up and at least partially bled off the car, and install it as a unit. Especially since the reservoir hose seems to be bigger than the fitting on the McLeod master. I am worried about that leaking.

Also, in the installuniversity.com guide to this thing, which is admittedly for an LS1, they say to transfer some O-ring inside the old master (not the one attached to the line) where the line goes in to the new master. But nowhere else have I seen this.

Help me please! This car is driving me nuts!

Your question confuses me...
I'll tell you what I know,
The slave /master can be installed/removed in one pc.
I don't remember offhand how it was routed.
Shoot me a PM and I can send you a pics tonight.

I was wondering if I could get the master and reservoir out without disconnecting them. Since I know the master/slave can come out togehter, if I could get all three this would allow me to bleed the system out of the car.

Yes, everything comes out/goes in one piece. Bring the unit
out/up thru the engine bay

Allright, I got this thing in and bled. How can I tell if it's working with the car off? The clutch pedal is significantly stiffer than stock, and I think the throw is shorter with the pedal 1" below the brake pedal.

Also, that damn O-ring I was asking about is one to replace the one on the master cylinder end of the line.

And what is the U shim for?
