LT1 + 5-speed manual?

Has anybody ever installed, or considered trying to install some sort of 5-speed behind an LT1?

I ask because Im interested in having a manual transmission, but it seems prices for t56 conversion packages seem to be a bit high, and often the trans itself needs a rather pricey rebuild.

On the other hand, Im always seeing Tremec 3550's and TKO's for sale locally for pretty cheap(compared to a good T56 anyway)

Im sure theres a ton of issues involved with such a swap, but Im curious if theres any onfo floating around out there.

Anyone?

Thanks

my guess says a 5 speed wouldnt last long refering to the iroc model cars. thats why the wasnt suppose to make 350's that were 5 speed. Some ppl will argue they did other argue they didnt but any way.

Im not talking about a non-World Class, or even a WC T-5. Im talking about a Tremec 3550 or TKO....much stronger than the ones that were factory in thirdgens.

I dont see why it wouldnt work. Will those bolt directly up to a LT1?
