LT1 4l60e bolt up to LS1?

My friend is putting an LS1 into his 97' formula A4, what needs to done to get the 97' tranny to bolt-up to the LS1? Would it be easier or cheaper just to get one that is for a 98+ car?

thanks!

the trans will bolt to the engine just fine, you will loose 1 bell housing bolt on the pass side , no big deal,,

for the converter you will need the hughes crankshaft spacer($40 from summit or jegs) or go with the gm 6.0 crankshaft spacer

oval out the holes in the ls1 flexplate just a bit to match the lt1 10.5" bolt pattern(i have done this and it worked fine)

i personally know all this info to be true from several ls1,5.3,6.0 engine trans swaps that i have done

Good to know, that way I can x'fer over a CPT trans later onto an LS1 if I decide to jump platforms (not cars)
