LS1 T56 to LT1 T56???
LS1 T56 to LT1 T56???
Ok so I picked up a t56 for a hell of a deal for my 89 iroc. however come to find out its an ls1 t56. So im wondering, can I swap in an lt1 input shaft and front plate so that it can work on my gen 1 small block? What other parts would I need to replace. Im planning to go through it with a rebuild and an iroc 3-4 fork. Any help would be great.

McLeod makes mounting kits to connect the LS1 T56 into virtually any engine. The LS1 tranny offers the advantage of using a conventional "pusher" clutch, unlike the LT1's oddball "pullback" design. You would have a much wider selection of clutches with the LS1 setup.
yes, you would have to shorten the driveshaft. to convert your LS1 style to LT1 style, you will have to change input shaft, front plate, and bell housing. plus you need the throwout bearing, clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel for the LT1 as well as the usual hydraulics, fork, and crossmember to work in the thirdgen.
btw, ask for the steel 3-4 fork and not an IROC 3-4 fork. IROCs didn't have a t-56 from thefactory

Woops you know what i meant, I wanted to put iron 3-4 fork. Som much for proofreading. I think Ill got the route of making this work with the LT1 belhousing. I dont want to shorten my driveshaft or get a custom fab xmember.
