ls1 t56 to lt1

has anyone ever put a 98 newer t56 into a car with a lt1. I already have the transmission and it was cheap enough, so ill find a way to do it. Any help on what might need to be done will be appreciated.

The bellhousing bolt pattern and input shaft are different. I don't really know the specifics of it though.

I also belive the way the slave cylinder in internal or something. I am not sure but I also looked into this when I started my six speed swap and somebody told me the slaves are different.

If that was the case, you could probably retain the LS1 lines just plumb them to the correct LT1 slave.

I think you can also swap input shafts, although I imagine it's pricey. I don't think anyone makes a conversion bellhouisng though. I read about Centerforce might make one soon.

Another thing, the clutchs are different, I wonder if that will make any difference, such as the 98+ flywheel bolting to the older block.

lunatic515: If you got it for real cheap, look into it some more, I'd be interested to hear how everything goes.

The bellhousing bolted right up, just has one bolt hole missing. The input shaft is too long, so i think i can just make a spacer to put the input shaft in the right spot. As far as the clutch goes, i will have to use the ls1 clutch for the right height and i found out that the flywheel has a slightly different pattern, but i can use a flywheel from a factory lt1. the lt1 and ls1 master cylinder are the same, but the slaves are different, the ls1 is a push style while the lt1 is pull. I want to keep the push style. I just wanted to know if anyone has done it so i could save some time in trial and error. thanks guys
