ls1 rear in lt1

will a 3.42 rear from a 98 ls1 car fit on my 93 z28? I know the abs wont work but i dont care because ive never been able to make it come on anyways. will the lt1 brakes fit on it or will i need to use the ls1 brakes? there is on traction control on 93s, and i dont know if this one has it, does it matter if the rear has traction control but my car dosnt? other then the abs, is this just a quick bolt on thing i can do in my driveway?

as far as your discs go, remove the old ones from your axle and put them on the new axle if they are not the same. all the traction control is is an electronic device in the axle that measures wheel slippage (the short, to the point definition). if your car doesnt have it, you just wont be able to use this feature. no biggie. if you're changing from your current gear size, though, you'll have to change your tuning. its a pretty simple bolt on setup.

The brackets for the LT1 & LS1 are NOT the same, if you swaping rear ends you will need the brakes from the LS1.. Are you just taking the diff out the middle and putting it in your 10 bolt or are you doing a complete swap?

ah, yes. the brackets. forgot about those (not that i wasnt thinking about it, just forgot to mention it when i said swap out the disks). swap the brackets out. just pull the C-clips out of the axles, pull the axles, and take the brackets off. swap 'em places w/ the ls1 brackets on the ls1 rearend. super simple. or change out the brakes. your pick.

Re: ls1 rear in lt1

The easiest way in my opinion is to swap the whole rear with the LS1 brakes. If it is an abs only rear you can just hook up your abs and it will work. If it is a traction control rear you won't be able to hook up the abs. You will need the emergency brake cables and the brackets that hold them to the rear from the LS1.

If you use LT1 brakes you will need to swap all brake related parts to the LS1 rear. The hard brake lines are different but you may be able to bend the LS1 lines to work if you don't want to swap for the LT1 lines. I have read that you should use the LT1 axle shafts with LT1 brakes but I don't know for sure. They are supposedly slightly different lengths.
