slave cylinder shim for T56

Hey all. I'm in the midst of doing a auto to T56 swap in my thirdgen and need some info. First off, I read somewhere that there is supposed to be a shim between the slave cylinder and the tranny to space the slave properly. Mine didn't come with that. Is there a part number for that so I can grab one?
Also, after researching, I have heard people having great success with the LT4 Pressure plate and a stockish type disk. However, I haven't been able to find just the pressure plate for sale anywhere, it only comes as a complete kit. So, would a 96 vette clutch setup work with the 97 T56 I have, or are they completely different? Thanks in advance for any info.

ok. Is there any shim between the two or was I just misinformed? Anyone who has recently replaced a clutch speak up.

Also, what is the proper type fluid to add to a T56. Again, I read that Dexron II or III ATF works. Is that correct?

Mine doesn't have a shim. There is an aluminum spacer that goes between the belhousing and the slave. Not sure if that is what you mean but you will need the spacer. I used Dexron III atf.

Yup. Thanks for clarification. So it's just an aluminum spacer between bellhousing and slave....and idea how thick it may be? Ah well, I'll probably just have to call GM and spend like a bazillion dollars just to finish the swap.

Is there any way you could post up a pic just so I get the right part from the dealer? That'd be awesome.

Thanks for the help guys. I didn't see the part listed on that link you provided Prorac1. I think I'll swing by the dealer and see how much it is there. I'll post up a part number if I find it to help out future swappers.
