They are aluminum so they weight a little less. Just because your steel driveshaft is rusty doesn't mean it will impact your performance though. Otherwise, they won't provide any real power gains. The 98-02 driveshafts will work on your car.

agreed, if your isn't suffering the vibration problem then I would suggest leaving it as is. I had an LS1 drive shaft for a little while. It now rests in 3 pieces. If you want to go aluminum get the 1LE shaft. The wall thickness of the LS1 shaft is unbelieveable thin while the 1LE has a little more meat to it.

"small" rear wheel power gain, at least LT1 steel vs aluminum 1LE.....

Thanks, my main concern was the rust (not so much a power gain), its well past surface rust, its pitting throughout the shaft, it does look like a sturdy piece though, so if its still ok, i'll let it go for now, there is no vibration that i can feel.

Funny you should talk about the LS1 shafts, just last week, a guy twisted his aluminum shaft in half in the burnout box, this was on a stock TA with street tires (6sp. car), sooooo, i'll stay away from them, thanks for the heads up.
