LS1 clutch install...hell continuation
going on day 4 of the clutch swap.
day 1:
got the car up, got everything unbolted, transmission separated, and pulled out from under the car.
no problems
day 2:
got the old clutch out, flywheel unbolted.
took 4hours to change out the pilot bushing/bearing. tried the wet TP method, no good. tried several different large bolts...no good. finally just took a chisel and destroyed it enough to pry it out of the hole. another 30 mins to reinstall the new one...VERY carefully.
swapped out the slave cylinder
wrestled the trans back into place, spilled most of the fluid out the rear of the trans
finally got everything bolted up
day 3:
finished plugging all the connectors in, put in all the trans bolts loosely. drive shaft back in and the rear wheel suspended so i could test the engagement.
fired the car up, WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR...AND NO CLUTCH PEDAL PRESSURE!
come to find out i needed to bleed the slave cylinder hydrolic line. never read anything about that, so it didn't really register that i needed to.
pulled the trans back apart and tried to bleed the SC...wasn't working how it should have.
i wasn't getting any fluid with the clutch pedal down and the bleeder open. but close the bleeder and pump the pedal and fluid would leak out.
so i think the brand new SC is bad.
trying to get the trans back farther to slide the SC off the shaft so we could get a better look and we snapped the hydrolic line going into the SC
luckily i can swap out that part of the line from the old SC.
gonna do that, put it back on and try to bleed the system prior to putting it on the trans shaft.
wish me luck.

Re: LS1 clutch install...hell continuation
yes i did...
got everything back together, hydrolics bled out, and it seems to shift great.
gotta wait for the clutch to break in. seems to have some added vibration, but that could just be the break in or could be from the light flywheel.
