loctite the bellhousing bolts?
loctite the bellhousing bolts?
is it usually recommended to put loctite on the bellhousing bolts? bolting up a TH350 to a sbc. just got ready to finish tightening them and though, hmmmm.... maybe i should loctite em. is blue ok?
That would probably be the last place I would use Loctite, but others may disagree. Just remember that someday you may need to take it back apart and if the head of the bolt somehow gets rounded you may have a whole lot of fun trying to get it out. I've bolted up at least 10 transmissions to different SBC's and never had a bolt loosen up or back out. Plus if one does back out you've got 5 more, and the dowel pins hold everything together anyways.
thanks, very good, i won't use it. i did have a bolt missing when i pulled the old one off which is really what got me thinking. not sure if it was forgotten or just rattled out. it helped lead to my bellhousing cracking. got an Ultra Bell on it now and that thing is beefy!
