Limited Slip Rebuild

I have a 1996 Z28 M6 car that I auto-x regular. I am am starting to get bad one tire fires, especially on corner exit. From what I have found out so far I believe it is an auburn style diff with a 3.23 rear gear. I have talked to a few guys that say you can rebuild these with new clutch packs and either shimming the springs or replacing the springs. The only issue is I do not know where to find the new clutches or a rebuild kit. Does anyone have any ideas. I would rather not replace it if I can help it. Just to much money. One of my friends just came across an extra 10-bolt with 3.73's in it. He plans to swap that into his A4 car that has ASR. I know his is a series 2 carrier, am i correct in saying that his carrier will not bolt up to my gears.

AFAIK the stock Auburn is not rebuildable, there is no rebuild kit for it.

And you are correct, your 3.23s will not fit his carrier.

That would have to have been an Eaton to get Kevlar clutch pak as Auburns are metal friction cones.

ok well in that case. what would be my cheapest and best option. I really dont have them money to put in to buying a brand new lsd. Is it worth swapping one out of another car. Maybe out of a newer car?
