KTRE 12 Bolt axles?

Just wondering, did KTRE 12 bolts have Moser axles in them? Any way to tell if its a KTRE 12 bolt of a Moser 12 bolt?

Thanks.

KTRE is out of business. DTS bought all of there jigs and will be trying to build their own. i really dont know who's axles they were using but the quality of there center sections were so bad they went out of business. i wouldn't buy one unless i was a really smokin deal...

A smoking deal is what I got, now I need to find out just what exactly I have. Its got 33 spline Moser Axles, havent pulled the cover off of the housing to see inside yet.

KTRE's did have moser axles... Easiest to make sure it's a KTRE is they use 4 1/2 bolts to hold the torque arm in place.

Guess I got lucky w/ my center section.. Going on 7 yrs or so.. This one's been around a while. Rumored to be the first 12 bolt rear end Kenny ever made up.

I have seen one KTRE 12 bolt and its help up behind a 900+rwp LT1 blown/n20 Firehawk, I guess the early ones werent bad. How ever I did use to hear about the folks on Fbody.com complaining about them back in the day, saying they made noise and to go with a Strange or Moser.

I thought Moser's also used 4 half inch bolts for the tq arm mounting?

I could've sworn the moser's and the strange rears both still used the factory bolts. I prefer that way myself... The top bolts on my KTRE need to be checked every month or so to ensure they're tight.

Mark Williams still sells the KTRE 12-bolt. Originally, they described this as a "partnership" with KTRE, but that language is no longer in their catalog:

I think only the Strange uses the stock-style through bolts for the torque arm.

Re: KTRE 12 Bolt axles?

DTS uses KTRE centers and they have the tapped holes like the Moser. I have had a DTS and a Strange and I believe the OEM bolting arrangement that Strange uses is much better for drag racing. My Strange bolts never came loose. Plus the Strange is quite a bit lighter. The only down side to the Strange is that the casting sections are a bit thin where the TA mounts and mine yielded over many , many launches. I fixed all that by pushing the casting back in place and welding tubing in between the webs where the Torque arm bolts go through. Works like a champ now.

"I'm a partner with a criminal" just doesn't seem to go over all that well. Dunno why...
