So I just ordered the 3.73s for the Z28. Also got the install kit with the shims/bearings/bolts/blablabla. They are richmonds, and I have heard they make some noise. No worries, but thats not why im posting. I've read some faqs and the guide that Keliente wrote up, and have done 1 succesful gear swap so far (in a mustang though). Anything major I need to look out for or is it pretty simple like the guide shows?

Oh also, will the gear swap mess up too much on the pcm? I am putting my order in next friday (payday haha) to get a tune for the gear swap and a few other things, but I want to make sure the gears aren't going to hurt anything. Not too worried about the speedo for now, as I know it will be off, but shift points or traction control will be a problem?

Oh, the car had code GU2, 2.73s in the rear, and I thought it felt pretty good. I'm pysched about the 3.73s

 

Yeah, shifting is going to be all messed up if you have an automatic. It will shift way too early, since it will think you are going faster than you really are. Your car will feel a lot quicker, but it may not be faster at all.

 

Was pretty much doing this for a gain, Not looking for a second faster or soemthing like that, but maybe 3-4 tenths would be nice. Maybe the moeny is well spent on something else? Not too late to cancel the order of course. It wont go through until monday.

 

if your getting it tuned, then you'll be fine, just be aware its going to shift funny until you get it tuned

Yeah for the 2 series. I couldnt find Motive gears for the 2 series but I did find some richmonds from summit. They were shipped early this morning
