jumps when i start try to start the car?

Well i had my st rebuilt less than 2k miles ago, i think last summer or the summer before? either way everything was working fine when i put the car away for winter now when i go to start it, it jumps forward on me. So i'm guessing it's either the slave or the master cylinder? anyone else have an idea or this problem before? it could be a busted clutch but if everything was fine when i put it away it makes me think that i'm losing fluid or a bubble in the system?

Thanks!

Check the clutch fluid level to make sure you don't have a leak. Does the pedal travel/pressure feel normal?

there is some fluid in there but it's not full by anymeans. And the clutch pedal does feel normal.

Have you tried starting the car with the transmission in neutral? This may eliminate a couple of things.

Thats a give. This is simple. Its going to be one of the following:
1. Your Pressure PLate
2.The Slave
3. The Master Cylinder

It could be a combination of 2 or maybe all three but My money is on the Master or Slave. In any case the Trans is going to have to come down. How old is the Slave and/or Master. I have heard of Pressure plates going bad but its not something you hear about very much. Go down the check list. If your leaking then see where its leaking. Try Bleeding the system.

If you can't get the tranny to engage in gear with the engine running and the car launchs forward when trying to start I would bet money it is something related to your master or slave cylinder.

It is also possible that your fork is broken, but the bottom line is your clutch isn't disengaging and you need to find out why that is.

I would start by removing the slave cylinder from the bellhousing and inspect it for a damaged fork through the hole. If its okay, then you probably need to replace your master/slave cylinder.

No need to pull the tranny if the master/slave cylinder is bad. These parts are external to the tranny.

Let me know if you figure this out because my car is having exactly the same problems. The last I drove it was around November and it drove fine. Now, If I crank it in gear it drives forward. If I keep it out of gear it wont go in after I fire it up. Clutch petal feels fine(nice and firm), no leaks. I adjusted the master cylinder out a little and It may have gotten a little better but its hard to tell. Im about to pull the slave off now and inspect it and check out the shift fork.

What did they check? The master/slave or did they drop the tranny and look?

i told em not to drop the tranny, but to check everything else out. The only reason i told them not to was because my friend and i did the clutch in stall and he told me that if it was in the clutch that'd he'd take care of it for me.
