Interesting thought...

So, I'm building the motor in my car right now and deleting the AC too, since it hasn't worked in years. I was planning to install a tranny cooler too. Point is, I was looking at the AC condensor, and its just basically the same design as a radiatior. Is there any reason why I couldn't clean it out really good and use it as a large tranny cooler? Would it over-cool the fluid?

I don't know if this would work at all. It was just a thought that I had. If it's a dumb idea, let me know. Anybody got any ideas on this?

I did it once years ago with a caprice i had and well it worked great, Trans never got hot I could drive around all day on a warm summer day and still drop the pan and it only be a little uncomfortable to the touch. Which was cool because I was always using my car to try out new ideas this was in the 80s of course. When I was a bit younger

I didn't think you could ever over cool a tranny.

Anybody else have any thoughts or comments? The only problem I can see is fluid flow benig restricted through the flat tubes of the condensor.

So you've done it? It really seems like a good idea. I know heat is the biggest enemy of a transmission. Especially behind a "built" motor and a stall convertor.
